We’ve just wrapped up our third week of fishing on both the Rio Grande and Menendez rivers, welcoming a fantastic group of international anglers from Europe and the US.
Water levels remained low and clear, much like the previous week, offering ideal conditions for delicate fishing with floating and intermediate lines, long leaders, and small flies. The weather was a bit unpredictable, with shifting wind directions and temperatures that caused some slow moments, but once conditions settled, the fishing really picked up. The running condition remained in full swing, with fresh fish moving up the rivers, keeping us on our toes and constantly searching every pocket for those resting fish before they continued their journey. Meanwhile, the main holding spots were bustling with fish, delivering great catches almost every time we visited. For the Rio Grande, light double-hand and switch rods were the tools of choice, while the Menendez River called for single-hand and switch rods.
All anglers enjoyed successful sessions, with the Menendez River once again delivering some incredible fishing and unforgettable memories. Fish ranged from 6 lbs to 18 lbs, with mostly fresh fish and a few darker ones mixed in.
